Benefits of Routine Dental Care

Is procrastination a part of the dance you go through to get yourself to the dentist twice a year? The team at Advanced Dental Arts would like to help you change that. Seeing the dentist is one of the best things you can do for yourself, and we’re going to touch on why.

  • Get the backup you need. If you brush and floss morning and night, kudos to you! These activities are vital to plaque removal. This biofilm of bacteria, saliva, and debris from your latest meal forms at lightning-speed, and it begins to harden into plaque within a day or two. The thing about plaque is that you can’t see it, but your dentist can. During your routine visits, we look closely at the gum line using magnified lenses, enabling us to detect potential problem areas, and treat them with conservative care.
  • Secrets may be revealed. If your dentist were to ask you if you clench your jaw or grind your teeth, you may wholeheartedly say “No.” All the while, your chompers are telling a different story. Bruxism could be a major problem if not detected and treated. The frequent pressure on teeth can cause fractures and can even cause gum tissue to separate from tooth structure. This same pressure also has a detrimental effect on the joints that help you open and close your mouth.
  • Trample the molehill. Most of the serious dental conditions that may develop start as tiny problems. Tiny problems have subtle symptoms. This lets you believe you can wait to see the dentist. Not so. Your oral health is not something to handle with a wait and see approach. When you see your dentist regularly, those bigger problems may be avoided altogether.
  • Tackle fears. Let’s face it, there are a lot of people out there who feel anxious when they have to see the dentist. As you can imagine, obtaining care only when a painful problem has erupted will only make matters worse. Routine dental care can help you realize that not all dental visits have to involve injections of anesthetic and restorative procedures.
