Gain Your Dream Smile
There’s no reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with teeth that are stained, discolored, badly shaped, chipped, or crooked. Today, a veneer placed on top of your teeth can correct nature’s mistake or the results of an injury and help you have a beautiful smile. Veneers by Advanced Dental Arts are a highly popular solution among dental patients because of their life-like tooth appearance. Veneers can give you the natural, attractive smile you’ve always wanted.
How They Work
Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted of tooth-colored materials (such as porcelain) designed to cover the front side of your teeth. To prepare for veneers, your doctor will create a unique model of your teeth. This model is sent to the dental technician to create your veneers. Before placing your new veneer, your doctor will remove a small amount of your tooth to make room for the veneer.
When placed, you’ll be pleased to see that veneers look like your natural teeth and even resist staining. Though veneers are stain resistant, Advanced Dental Art’s doctors recommend that you avoid coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco to maintain the beauty of your veneer.
What is the veneer process?
- Typically, veneers take two visits to Advanced Dental Art’s Grayslake office. At the first visit, we will look at x-rays of your teeth to ensure that you are a good candidate for the procedure. Then the surfaces of your teeth will be prepared; some of the surface will be removed. This is minimally invasive but a local anesthetic may be used to make you more comfortable. Impressions will be made of the tooth and you will be fitted with temporary veneers while your permanent veneers are being made.
- Approximately ten days following your first visit, the veneers will be permanently cemented to the prepared tooth surfaces. At this time, we will check to make sure the size and color are correct; any minor changes can be made at this time.
What happens to your teeth after veneers? Will you still get cavities?
Dental veneers are strong and permanent. They do not require special care, but you have to clean them just like your natural teeth. Flossing once a day and brushing twice a day is essential, because teeth with veneers can still experience decay, possibly necessitating full coverage of the tooth with a crown.
How long do veneers last?
Depending on the veneer material used and how you care for them, veneers generally last between 5 and 10 years.
What do veneers cost?
The cost of veneers varies depending on the material used and the extent of your procedure. Generally, veneers range in cost from $500 to $1,300 per tooth. The cost is not generally covered by dental insurance, but to be certain, check with your insurance provider. To access more financial information from Advanced Dental Arts, click here.
Would you be a good candidate for veneers?
Veneers are an excellent choice for patients with healthy teeth and gums who have an adequate amount of existing enamel on the tooth surface. If you grind your teeth, you may not be a good candidate as these activities can cause veneers to crack or chip. If you are unhappy with the color or shape of your teeth, or if you have unsightly chips or cracks, you would be the perfect veneer candidate.
